TWP 2011 14th Annual Teen Event
-
“Imagine
Me”… A Theatrical
Experience!Saturday,
Nov. 5, 2011 l 11am –
3pm l Crispus Attucks Cultural
Center
TWP
held the 14th
Annual Teen Event:
“Imagine
Me – A Theatrical
Experience!”
on November 5th
at 11 a.m. at
the Crispus Attucks
Cultural Center
in Norfolk. Youth
in Hampton Roads
imagined producing
an out of the
box teen forum
addressing teen
issues with a
totally youthful
cast and crew.
TWP used peer-led
activities and
entertainment
to address pressing
teen issues. “Imagine
Me – A Theatrical
Experience!”
was in collaboration
with Norfolk Parks,
Recreation and
Open Space and
the Crispus Attucks
Cultural Center,
as well as an
array of local
artists, technicians
and community
organizations,
committed to the
training and development
of youth leaders.
Imagine Me included
workshops, lunch,
and end with a
curtain call mini
concert “With
a Purpose.”
The
mission of “Imagine
Me - A Theatrical
Experience!”
was to utilize
the Arts to illustrate
the possibilities
in life too often
overlooked. The
event inspired
older teens to
become role models
to younger people;
develop youth
mentors and community
leaders. This
theatrical event
raised awareness
in young people
so they can better
understand the
consequences of
their actions
thus reducing
their risk for:
HIV/STI, Dating
Abuse, Bullying,
Suicide and Dropouts.
